Well, this is the video companion to my original post here. I highly recommend that you watch the HD version in full screen if you can, as it’s way better than on the page, or watching the low-res version. If you have any questions, feel free to hit up the Doom9 thread or post in the comments on this page.

Note: Feel free to right click the video and change the stretching method if the video looks distorted to you.

Seems just the same to me. What looks different to you?

  • Johnei

Just a quick question I’ve went thru the settings abot 10x. Everything is set fine I have all codecs installed. But when I hit start it states all is good and there is 3 hours left. After the 3 hours I get no output file and if I read the log it states transcoding failed reinstall hali ffdshow and another I can’t remeber at the moment. What am I doing wrong. I should also note I’m doing bluray to DVD which I want to work in a standard DVD player. Please help me

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Well, do you have Haali’s Media Splitter installed? If you do, which version?

  • Johnei

Yes I have hali media splitter installed it is version 1.10.175.0. And thank you for the quick response

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Johnei, have you taken a look at my guide concerning codec setup here?

If so, and it’s still not working, can you send me the full log with the error? You can email it to me if you like at adub(at)adubvideo.net.

  • Johnei

I have not yet tried that guide I am doing so right now an then I will try again. If it does not work I will email you the log and again thanks for the quick response. One more note I’m on windows 7 and it’s an original bluray ripped with dvdfab

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Good show! Remember, there’s even a Windows 7 specific guide, so be sure to look at that too.

  • Johnei

Hey it still did not work. I emailed u the log let me know if you got it. Also I’ll note I’m on a 64bit operating system and the x264 box under settings where it says 64bit is unchecked……perhaps it should be checked???

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Well, since you are going from a Blu-ray to a DVD, the X264 being used doesn’t matter, as you are not encoding with it. You are encoding with HCenc.

    I responded to your email.

  • Johnei

Hi, so the dvd was created and i burnt it, after about 15mins of playback it goes to a black screen, the audio still plays but the picture does not come back, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update. It worked perfectly. The problem was with the codecs so I did a re format of my pc and started fresh. First try no problem thank you for this amazing program

Hi Adub, nice video tutorial! I think this program is what I have been seaching for. I shoot in 1080i and when I export from avid it gives me a .m2t file. This looks great when burned to blu-ray but clients still want DVD’s. So I transcoded the .m2t file to DVD-5 using multiAVCHD. Don’t worry the vid is only 1.5 minutes long. After the transcode my VIDEO_TS files are there and look good but the AUDIO_TS folder is empty. The audio is: und, MPEG 2ch delay:0ms (SD Audio) Any insite would be much appreciated. If you could send me the link to your tutorial on using IMGburn to author DVD’s that would be awesome too. Thanks!

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Don’t worry about the AUDIO_TS folder being empty. It’s empty 99% of the time, even on commercial DVD’s. If you play the burned disk, it should have audio.

You can even test the new DVD before burning it by dragging and dropping the VIDEO_TS folder onto a media player like Media Player Classic Home Cinema or similar.

If you are still having problems after burning or playing the folder in MPCHC, then let me know.

  • Rchenko

Hey Adub thanks for the prompt reply. I tried dragging and dropping the VIDEO_TS folder into MPCHC and it plays beautifuly but still no audio. Should I just try and burn a copy with IMGburn?

    Thanks!

  • Rchenko

I tried burning a single layer DVD and again it looks great but no audio. I have ffdshow v1.1.3326, Haali Media Splitter, AviSynth 2.5 intalled on my pc are these programs nessesary? Could they be causing my audio problem? Thanks for any imput you are a saviour!

  • Rchenko

Problem solved! I converted the .m2t to H264 mp4 and it pulled out the audio no problem. Thanks for the help! What a great program.

Ps. Do I need the above mentioned progams for the multiAVCHD to work?

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Rchenko, yes you will need the above programs for multiAVCHD to work properly. They are very good programs and should provide no problems for your computer.

  • Rchenko

Hi again Adub. I seem to be getting an error message saying ” AVSinfo.exe has stopped working ” when I try and use multiAVCHD. Can you tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks.

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

    Rchenko,
This may result from a hung AVS script. Try playing the problematic script in a player like Media Player Classic, and see if that hangs.

AVSinfo problems are usually the result of an improper decoding setup on your PC. Take a look at my decoder setup guide here: http://adubvideo.net/how-to/setup-proper-playback-chain-windows

  • Rchenko

Thanks again Adub! You’re a saviour.

Hello, I have a problem when turning my mpeg 4′s to DVD. When I drag in the mpeg file into multiavchd I get a red block around the text of my movie name. And when I click on properties the sizing is strange. However I did convert it to avchd to fit DVD but when I burnt it, it plays weird on my panasonic viera tv, it stretches the video down so it cuts off about a quarter of the video on screen. I am also using a panasonic blu ray player.
    Thanks a lot.
    Ryan

Hmm… Sounds like multiAVCHD is having trouble reading your video’s input size.

Can you play the MP4′s correctly on your computer? If so, which media player software are you using?

You seem to be going about the process correctly. It just sounds like a odd format problem to me.

One thing I recommend is that you always test the output DVD (or AVCHD in this case) before burning it. It can save you some troubles.

  • Ellie

This is all too technical for me.
I just want to view my Hi Def home video, shot on Canon HiDef camcorder, in my DVD player.
what should i convert it to?

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

To view any thing in a “DVD” player, you have to convert it to a “DVD”. I thought that much was obvious.

Simply load up your camera’s home video using the “Add Video files” button, and then click “Start” -> “SD-DVD” for a quick conversion. You can tweak with the settings in the same manner as my original post if you desire some more fine tuning.

  • bob

first i get a firewall warning that process.exe is a malicious program and it gets blocked automatically.
Second I get an error on most dvds when selecting the BDMV folder that it cannot read the first playlist file
third when i click “properties” I get a pop up saying AVSinfo.exe has stopped working – i can then either quit the program or close the pop up. If I close that pop up, i get an idential one but when i close that one im presented with a title screen with all the audio/subtitle options – the video preview is empty and all options are grayed out.

any other programs that can convert bluray to sd dvd9?

  • samul

Hi… thanks for the great video!
I’ve done as you show in the video but I now have a VIDEO_TS folder of 4.6Gb and I can’t burn it on my 4.7GB disk, the maximum space available is about 4.38Gb… How can I do?
And if I play the VIEDO_TS folder i can’t choose the language, the scenes ecc…

Another thing… I didn’t get what’s the difference between hard-encoded subtitles (opaque) and (outline).. Thank you!

  • http://adubvideo.net Adub

Sounds like your going to have to reduce the bitrate of your encode.

And the DVD output generated by multiAVCHD doesn’t have a menu, which is why you can’t select scenes.

Hard coded opaque lets empty spaces in subtitles show throw to the video below, while outline places an outline or border around your subtitles.
